This morning, for any number of reasons, I ate breakfast at McDonald's. There really not a lot of good options arouind where I work and it was there and I just figured "What the Hell?"

It wasn't until after I'd ordered my food and was seated, slicing my suasage and spreading de butter on nde pancakes, that I noticed that they were playing XMAS music. Specifically, they had it on KOIT...which at this time of year plays XMAS music 24 hours a day, every day, until just a little after New Year's...

...which is really wrong seeing as it's not even Thanksgiving yet!

Anybody know a good hacker that can bust through the systems at NORAD or something equally stockpiled. I say we laser lock every single outlet of the Golden Arches and blow them all to kindgom come!!

yo. I updated about 6 months ago about how much I love it at mcdonalds. well, 6 months have passed, and I fucking hate it there! It sucks! You were all right, it sucks. I only get shifts on lobby, almost every saturday or sunday, 9-4 and 6.50 an hour can't do anything! ahh!

I have orientation on Thursday & I'm really nervous about starting work at Mcdonald's!
It will be my first job & I'm scared I will be stupid and take way too long to learn everything.
Any advice or thoughts?

Today was the first time I was actually angry with a customer...

I work in a mc donalds in holland...
Theres only 1 province with its own language (Not dialect but official language) apart from dutch...
Thats the province I work in... I dont live there so I dont speak the language!
The language is fries....

So this lady comes in and starts ordering...
for starters she talks REALLY quiet...
and was ordering a happymeal with auquarius... I got it till that part... then she starts saying something that I still dont know anything bout... So I ask her to speak up cos my ear was allready almost in her mouth... She doesnt do it... I find out she was talking in fries... so I tell her Im sorry but I dont talk or understand fries (I have to admist I do understand it for the most of it but I was crabby) so she orders sum more in fries... I tell her again... this is the point I start gettin angry... I eventually asked her what she wanted to drink... but I still didnt get most of her order... and then when Im almost finished with her order she told me that I needed to take a Fries course! cos... according to her... its like goin 2 england... I'd talk english overthere... so being in her province I HAVE to speak fries... I told her that I work in the netherlands and that I do speak dutch... then she was like well... my dutch is as good as your fries... common... did I ever complain bout germans in our mc? well... this lady was like 100 times WORSE then all of em together!

BTW... my mc is like 2km north from my province so its not like im in the middle of her province...
I never knew there were people who were born in holland that dont even speak Dutch... common if you were born in turkey I'd understand if you'd have trouble but she didnt even try...

UGH!

Any of you having trouble with these kinda people?

That lady got on my nerve...
She got in the line again later... But I swear to god if she was standing in my line I'd walked off the minute I had to help her!

I all of a sudden got SO much respect for the nice germans we get EVERYDAY!

OK, not a lot of people are writing in about wierd stories at work. My sister belongs to a Dairy Queen community and they always talk about wierd stuff. So I've decided to talk about my shift today, 12-7.

Actually, it wasn't that interesting lol. I had to be hostess for the first time (I've only been there for a month) and it licked. I can't say I like that little pool of liquid that slides down to the bottom of the bag and leaks all over the floor. It sucked.

But then I stole someone's till and this really wierd guy came in. He was carrying a stuffed killer whale and a stuffed penguin with a touque on. He kept pointing at things behind me, and the really hot guy I work with was helping me understand the wierdo. So I finally gave him his 2 cheeseburger meal with a large coffee and he sat down. I was soon kicked out of the counter back to the lobby, and I was cleaning tables and the wierd guy was staring at me, givin me the crazy eyes. It was scary.

And that's my story!

So, if everything goes well, I'm either quitting Shelbourne McDonald's tomorrow, fucking them over for the week and making a scene at a manager's meeting, or with 2 weeks notice. This depends on how bitchy I am, and how poor I feel.

I went to my old work, Hillside, today, to pick up products (we were out), and ran into some old coworkers. My old manager Steve is working tomorrow, so I'm going to call him and see about getting my old job back.

I cannot believe I got scheduled for ANOTHER weekday closing shift. How fucking absurd. Aaaaaaaaaaand they STILL have my pay fucked up. I might not quit tomorrow though, because I kinda want my pay fixed before my happiness.

WHY didn't I go back to Hillside in the first place?!!??!!? Well, I know why - Shelbourne was closer, so it made sense.

at Hillside:
-managers would drive me home if I had no ride
-taking off a whole month for christmas was no problem.
-getting rid of shifts was never a problem
-my availability was never a problem, and always very promptly changed as needed.
-they payed for my cab when i didn't have a ride to work
-Steve was willing to promote me to team leader, when i returned from taking the summer off (which again was no problem)
-i was encouraged and praised when i trained and coached others and set goals during my shift

at Shelbourne:
-nobody showed me around, helped me adjust at all. i was just thrown into working
-they have only JUST paid me.... missing a zillion hours!
-despite capital letters and long rants and many talking to managers and long explanations about how I CANNOT WORK CLOSING SHIFTS DURING THE WEEK, and the fact that 100+ people work there and i'm DEFINATELY NOT the only person that they have to close.... they always schedule me closing
-they treat me like crew again
-the only way to get ahead is to go drinking with the (immature, ungrateful and undeserving) managers
-10 people quit the week before i started. many have quit during the month i've been here. many many more hate the managers
-whenever i've tried to help out crew under me, tried to train or coach or set goals, i've been shot down

It will be less convenient working at Hillside again, but I definately think I'll be happier.

Ugh! Last night, while I was closing the stores, I counted our back drive-thru drawer and it was $20 short. Then I counted the 2nd drive-thru window (we pull it up to 1 window at the end of the night) and it was $5 short! It's no big deal to me, since it isn't my money. But then later, I counted my safe and it accidentally came up $30 over. My deposit was fine, so it HAD to be from those drawers. I made both drawers fine, and put the extra $5 in the safe. I figured, the extra $5 might be from a stack of 5s that I had made up while counting our safe. ($250 in 5s gets wrapped up and put in a compartment) Today I got a phone call asking what time I would be coming in, since I volunteered to help out another manager and close as a crew since she didn't have anyone. After I told her that, she told me that the opening manager and herself counted the safe and it was $25 short. Wow, that SUCKS! I must have THOUGHT my safe was $30 over, marked those 2 drawers as not being short any more, and put the $25 in my deposit!! That means, the money that's missing from the safe is off to the bank and no longer safe money. Bah! lol The 1 manager is goign to talk with the store manager about giving me some slack and fixing it some how. That really sucks though. lol From now on, I am triple counting my safe at the end of the night!!!

Word on the street is that we add 2 new sandwiches to the regular menu in two weeks. A bacon ranch and a club BLT with your choice of crispy or grill chicken. Sounds good to me

Oh My word, I can't believe that theres actually a commun for MCD's, lol...but yeah, Been working in the hell known as McDonalds on and off for like 3 years now, just became a Swing Manager a few months ago....regretting it, but blah, its money. Anywhoo, so yeah, I hope you guys get treated alot better then the peeps in our store.

Our air conditioning was broken for so long and just got fixed. We were all dying for weeks without it. I had a ton of shifts where I was permanently on fries when we were without a/c.

We FINALLY got our new uniforms and I have to say, they're quite confortable. Not that cute tho, I definitly prefered the blue or green golf shirts we usually had to wear but ah well. We've got three different styles now, golf shirt, vest-type, and a zip-up one. I miss visors, we all have to wear hats now and they're so unconfortable.

Does anyone's store still offer coleslaw with their deli sandwiches or is it only offered with fries now?

Me and a friend who used to work at Tim Horton's have decided to form a Fast Food Union. If we get everyone involved who works at or has worked in the fast food industry, we can effectively pursue equal rights for Food Service employees...

This includes:

1. Paid Breaks (some food service personal do not receive paid breaks)
2. More vacation time
3. Less working time to Overtime ratio
4. Minimum two days off per week


If you or anyone you know has any other ideas for our union, or would simply like to join the FFU, they simply need to apply for an online account in our community (sponsored by Live Journal). When we mobilize, we can be treated equally under law.

omg last week or sooo......
when I was getting ready to leave work one of my manager was on break and she went in the crew room to sit down.... and she was like your crazy sometimes... and I was like what r u talking about... and then she like but I love u...... and I just gave her a weird look and laugh!!! and she like I know u love me too...... I just kept on laughing and walk away....... I m thinking weirdo!!! (And yeah right I love her ha ha what a joke!)

O she said that to some other people too becaz they were talking about her and stuff....

yesterday she said to one of the workers she like wow I havent work the morning shifts in a long time (she was working nights for a month or 2) and she was telling one of the worker... I miss u....... I love u....

and then this other co-worker was she was like I hate when she said that....

oh and I was putting the grease trap back in..... one of the night time person broke the handle soooo u have to kick it in.... and it didnt go in the right away... soooo the manager is like u have to put it under this thing u see it??? I was like no??? and u know what she say "Be nice"

o and then I was joking with her I took the empty box of reg meat and I was like this is your house.... and then she like its too small to be my house..... (Its like nooo it was a joke!!!!!!!!)

I saw a list and they are going to write me up for a drawer that was short $5.00 from like a month ago. They put my name on the drawer but I know that doesn't mean that I was really on it or that I was the only one using it. If I was not the only one on the drawer then they are supposed to write up the manager on that shift. Since we got our new computer system in April, there is no way to tell who was on a drawer...with our old system we had to enter in an employee number and it said who was on that drawer.

Ok so I've worked for 4 different McD's in 3 different states for a total of 7 1/2 years, and I've never been written up and don't really plan on starting now. I need to think of a way to get out of getting that write up!!

By the way, I'm a crew chief/opening manager (because none of the real managers want to get up early, those jerks) and I don't want to get written up for something that I didn't even do! Any ideas??

OMG today it was totally wild & crazy!!!
At around 9 am or sooooo the orders kept on coming none stop!!!!!! 2 or 3 orders kept on appearing at like the same side.... and I was the only one that was on table.... and then we had only one person on grill, and one of the manager helping out...

and then next we get this one huge order....
which was 2 hotcake & sausage, 2 sausage, 2 eggs, 1 bec bisquit, 1 sausage egg muffin& 1 bec mcgriddle. Then after that came a ton of other orders with 1 or 2 sandwiches... and it kept on coming too.... then finally they decided to put someone on 2nd side... sooo I had like 4 orders on my screen and she had like 3 caz they kept on coming.....

and when I was on table by myself all these orders came up so quicky that we were pending like 3!!!!!!!!!

And he didnt schedule many grill people..... well one of them didnt even know how to do breakfast... only lunch!

o and since it kept on getting busy..... a few things accidently got drop or fell out.... a few pieces of cheese, a piece of egg, one of the tong sooo I just had one..... and then I took the one from the other side and somehow that drop too sooo the other side had one. and then I was putting the round eggs in and it almost sliped out of my hand but I caught the tray just in time............... and then it was sooooo messy!!!!! But that happens when its ultra busy and your trying to be fast!!!!!!!

This hasn't been the best week at McDonalds ever. I don't think I've gotten one break at all. We've been having freakishly busy days where lunch doesnt seem to end til around 4pm. Im so exhausted right now guys, thats why I want to leave as soon as possible. There are just nobody fun to work with during the day. The managers ride my ass like a pony too. I just want it to end.

How ever there is one person... A few months ago we were shit out of people. My managers just loved to wait til we were worn out so thin to the point where they would give people 45hours a week. So after relizing that we had a problem on our hands, they pretty much hired enougth people to double what we orignally had. One of these people was stephanie

Stephanie had been a manager before at the same McDonalds I worked at before I started working about a year ago. Apparentally she left about the time I started. She has a very fun personality and very easy going demenor.

However at the beginning of this month, she started to go though management training again. Alot of times she has taken me home and afterwards she'd hang around for an hour or 2 before heading off home.

However she is in trainging to be a closing manager and with my dayshift I hardly ever see her.

Today I had a nice suprise though. After one of my bitch days of this week I came home looking for a nice night of WWE wrestling but she just stops by to say hi completly out of the blue. Poor girl has just broke up with her boyfriend recentally and I could tell she had alot on her mind so I offered to keep her company. So I ended up going to her house to look though old photo albums and watching "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion". It was great to finally go out and do something for once.

The rules state that a manager cannot have relationships with employees outside of work..... friendship or otherwise or it could be on the grounds for immediate suspension. However things are looking pretty good for us.

Has anyone else had a special connection with a manager like that before?

OMG!!!!
I hate this one person at my work she gets mad at me for no reason at all!!!!
So today I was on finsh and then I took over intizating becaz the other person was off sooo she came over from 2nd side and finsh... sooo we had 1 double quarter pounder, & 1 quarter pounder sold and we only keep 2 quarter meets in a tray... so there was only 2 trays in there with 2 piece of quarter meat... except she doesnt call out that we need more quarter meat sooo I check and there was one left sooo I call it becaz we r suppost to let the person on meats know that we need more quarter meat so that we wouldnt be waiting on it and she gets mad at me for calling the stuff out!!! And she was also mad at me when I was finshing and calling stuff out!! Becaz the person on 2nd side also does the fried product.... sooo if the product is low then I have to call it out unless we want to run out...

and she was on the other side and I heard one of the manager asking her to make a double quarter pounder except there was like 3 trays in there and then we get 2 quarter pounder sooo I ask the person on meats that we need quarter meat down. And then I go to look in the cabinet and there is only 1 quarter meat left! sometimes she doesnt take out the trays... and then sometimes she will take from the wrong tray.

And then when I go to make doubles cheeseburger she like no more doubles... abecaz we usually make at least 2 extras but I always need to put 2 extras up there...

and she gets mad at me when the nuggets box slides off the tables.. becaz sometimes the box falls to the ground and it happens to everyone......
